Diddy Riese is unique, cheap, and undoubtedly delicious. You can get a dozen of cookies for only $4.50. Although famous for their cookies, they are primarily known for their ice cream sandwiches. You can choose any type of cookies and any type of ice cream to make your perfect combination. It has been open in Westwood, right near UCLA, for over 30 years. There is always a line down the block, but trust me, it is worth the wait.
Bigg Chill has been in the heart of Los Angeles for over 20 years. An extremely popular and crowded frozen yogurt place, many visitors and tourists come to this notorious shop. Bigg Chill has about four consistent flavors, and eight flavors that change every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. They don't always switch around with the same flavors, there are always different and new ones such as Milky Way, Chocolate Custard, Macaron, or Blueberry, to name a few. They have a very large assortment of toppings ranging from rainbow sprinkles, to their famous vegan cookie dough, to strawberries, to chocolate chips. A unique fact is that most people prefer to get the vegan cookie dough over the regular cookie dough!
Milk ALWAYS has a huge line down the block. This small and expensive cafe is undoubtedly heavenly and definitely worth the wait. They have an extensive menu of dessert options. You can get a scoop of gelato, a cupcake, or an incredible ice cream sandwich. These ice cream sandwiches aren't like the classic ones made with chocolate chip cookies, they are actually made with macarons on each side. The macarons give a different texture, but go perfectly with the ice cream. Milk's shakes and malts are also to die for. The Milky Way malt is my favorite.
B Sweet has slutty brownies, ice cream sandwiches, cookies, and cupcakes. Their ice cream sandwiches aren't just any ice cream sandwiches, as they can be made using B Sweet's glazed donuts. B Sweet is also notorious for its bread pudding. There is a B Sweet location on Sawtelle, a fun area to go with many Asian restaurants and stores.
Italian ice! Rita's has around 15 different flavors of Italian ice. You can try as many flavors as you want. They also have cream ice, which is basically a mixture between Italian ice and ice cream. I am a big custard fan, so one of my favorite things about Rita's is that you can choose a flavor of Italian Ice and top it off with some custard. You can even put a topping on top of the custard! Now that is a real dessert.
Sweet Rose is a cute and popular ice cream shop located right next to the Brentwood Country Mart. It is known for their unique flavors, which include "summer corn" and "horchata." Their flavors change monthly. Sweet Rose uses organic ingredients to make its ice cream daily. Other than a scoop of ice cream, you can get a sundae, a milkshake, or a fudge pop.
Blockheads combines frozen ice with ice cream for the extraordinary shaved ice cream. It is unlike any other texture as the shavings melt inside your mouth and you can taste the flavor. You can get up to three toppings, and a drizzle. They have a variety of fruits, candy, and nuts. The drizzles include chocolate syrup and coconut drizzle. The drizzle adds an extra flavor to the already tasty mixture of shaved ice cream.
